My chickens can jump...

White men may not be able to jump, but my chickens can :)

Savannah is jumping up to eat a fushia berry. It's fun to watch the chickens jump around the plant to eat the berries (and sometimes flowers). I've tasted the fushsia berries and they seem pretty bland to me. Not sure what the attraction is for the chickens.

What an adorable video! We were thinking of raising chickens but we are worried about what our neighbors will think. Are your neighbors close to your property. Do they mind your chickens. Are chickens noisy?

Meemsync, one question: Do any of your neighbors have a dog? Cuz if they do, then I'll guarantee you it's louder than hens :) Really, the hens make very little noise. And they are silent when it's dark outside.

We have two neighbors with dogs right next to our property. There is a 6 foot chainlink fence that separates us from the dogs. My main concern is if the chickens were to ever jump over the fence. :( I don't want the dogs to get to any of the girls. Also, I'm concerned with the dogs constantly barking at the chickens and scarying them.

Hmmm...that's a tough one. My hens haven't flown over our 6 ft fence, but I believe that they probably could if they got scared or something. You could build a secure run (pen) with strong fencing and a top to keep the hens safe.

Cute video! It is amazing how high chickens will jump for a tasty morsel. Some of ours, for some reason, are fascinated with long hair. A couple of times I've walked in the run, only to have a chook jumping straight up, and tugging my hair!
