Christy, that's why I said...Amen, Stefaneener!

Christy, that's why I said "small, local, organic". Basically, I think we need to know what's going on "down at the farm".Jackiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17591311147406307304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1762929509261919025.post-62321561113236659042010-05-21T19:33:26.844-07:002010-05-21T19:33:26.844-07:00Just be careful here. Not all organic farms treat their workers with the respect and dignity they deserve, not to mention decent wages or other benefits that workers in other industries often have. Especially when we are talking about big growers who are trying to cash in on the "organic" label. The best thing is to grow our own vegetables while at the same time support farm workers' rights (including the right to organize!).Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04113718525452233978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1762929509261919025.post-44807264414786439942010-05-21T07:30:17.927-07:002010-05-21T07:30:17.927-07:00THIS is what I tell people who tell me that organi...THIS is what I tell people who tell me that organic produce isn't better for me. It may not be, but I can absolutely guarantee it's better for the workers who spray, work, and harvest conventionally grown crops! There may be big farmers who carefully protect their workers with proper training and equipment, but human nature being what it is, I'd rather not make that call for someone else.Stefaneenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08422241601075022500noreply@blogger.com
